Decided to rent? Respect. Here’s the checklist we’d hand a friend — because a good rental day is won before the machine starts.

At the Yard

• Photograph everything — teeth, hoses, glass, tracks
• Confirm high-flow is ON and learn the head’s stall recovery
• Get the after-hours breakdown number

Before You Start

• Walk every foot: wire, fence posts, stumps, rock, wet spots
• Flag keeper trees in paint or tape
• Clear people and pets to 300 feet — seriously
• Plan slopes top-down, never sideways on wet ground

While You Work

• Feather into thick growth — don’t bury the head
• Watch hydraulic temps; rest it before it forces you to
• Stop while you still have daylight to load
